How long have you been a fanI watched Nascar racing with my Dad, Bobby Hargis, as I was growing up. I am now 48 years old so I have been a Nascar Fan since I was a teenager.
How did your interest in racing startActually my Dad would watch the Nascar Races when I was young and the excitement of the race just drew me in. My Dad took me to my first race in 1978 to Talladega. The first lap of the cars and the extremely loud sound of cars was so thrilling. Then in 1981 my sister, Middie, and her husband, Larry, and I went to the Bristol Night race in August. My interest in racing for many years was okay until Jimmie Johnson became a driver.
Who was your first favorite driverMy first favorite driver was Richard Petty. Since my Dad introduced me to Nascar and he thought Richard Petty was the greatest driver then I began watching Richard Petty on tv and he became my favorite.
Who is your current favorite driverMy favorite driver currently is the best driver, Jimmie Johnson. When Jimmie first came on the scene I starting noticing how good of a driver he was and not to mention very handsome. My nephew, Dustin Gandy of Hixson Tennessee, who is a huge Earnhart fan would give me a hard time about liking Jimmie as my favorite driver. About 2 years ago I began calling Jimmie Johnson "MY JIMMIE" and I have made t-shirts that say "MY JIMMIE". Now everyone around me calls Jimmie Johnson by that name. Actually it has spread quickly and now people I don't even know are calling him "MY JIMMY". One day I would like to make a Quilt for "MY JIMMIE" and his lovely wife Chandra.
If you had three hours to spend with your favorite driver, what would you doI would love for "MY JIMMIE" to take me for a ride at the Atlanta Nascar Speedway and it would be special if my husband who supports my interest in "MY JIMMIE" could also take a few trips around the track too but with "MY JIMMIE" driving. Then we could take a quick flight to my hometown so that my two sons Josh and Jared and my closest family and friends could him and we could all just discuss Nascar and how he became a driver and how he became so great.
What is your most memorable moment in racingMy most memorable moment in racing was on April 12, 2008. April 12th is my birthday and it was a special birthday since I was turning 48 and that was also "MY JIMMIES" car number. "MY JIMMIE" won that race on my 48th birthday and I will never forget that special memory and what a wonderful birthday gift.
How many races do you attend each yearUsually just one race a year. I would attend each race if possible but raising two wonderful sons has kept me busy. However, my husband purchased a 55" screen high def tv for football games, so I get to watch "MY JIMMIE" race and even the interviews immediately after the race. My goal is to someday see "MY JIMMIE" race at every Nascar event.
What is your favorite trackMy favorite track is definitely the Atlanta Motor Speedway. I can see "MY JIMMIE" from my seat at all times and I love the speed at that track. It is very exciting and last October 2007, I was in the stands when "MY JIMMIE" won that race. What an exciting day it was.
If you worked in racing, what job would you doI would like to work for "MY JIMMIE" in either Public Relations or Nascar Gear Sales or help with his Charity organization. But it would be nice to someday be an owner of a car.
If you were in charge of NASCAR, what would you changeThe penalty for cheating would be more than what it is now. Also, if any driver bumps another car after a race due to being mad or upset, they would lose points in the Chase.
