The Team Lowe's Tire Specialist reviews three tools he finds useful in his job as a tire specialist and mechanic for Team 48 and Hendrick Motorsports.
Kobalt SPEEDFIT 15-Piece Micro Screwdriver Set – Item #115462
At the track, we have a lot of Kobalt Tools. We try and use the specific tools that take up the least amount of room so we get more tools in our box. This set, which allows for quick and easy removal, has a little bit of everything. For working inside the car, it has some long, standard attachments and Phillips attachments, so you can get under the dash and to the electrical system very easily. The handle provides storage for all of the other bits, so you always have the right bit for the job – right where you need it.
Kobalt 22-Piece Thru-Ratchet Socket Set - Item #70128
The relative ease of the sockets makes this a great tool. With a lot of other brands, it's difficult to get the tools on and off. This one, you don't even have to think twice. It's just easy on-and-off, from a three-quarter-inch socket to use the 3-inch extension. The motions, everything, are just so easy, and it has an ergonomic handle that is comfortable to use. And the length allows you to reach extra long bolts and tight spaces.
Kobalt Portable CO2 Air Compressor – Item #166441
Everyone needs one of these at the house. This is the best thing I've seen in quite some time. It's not the normal, bulky compressor you have to lug around your garage and to your vehicle when you want to check your tire pressure. Anyone can carry it around, it fits easily back in your closet or your garage. It has many attachments for tires, sports equipment and pneumatic tools. The size of this compressor is its best asset.
