Located 3 miles south of Martinsville, Va., the paper clip-shaped short track is the only original NASCAR-sanctioned speedway still hosting Sprint Cup events. It was a dirt track when it ran its first NASCAR race in 1948. Martinsville is the shortest track on the Sprint Cup circuit, and has always been viewed as a “family-type facility.”
