Team Lowe’s Racing Travels to Dover Looking for 4th Win

No Ratings

After finally getting the season’s longest race in on Monday afternoon, Jimmie Johnson and the 48 Lowe’s team have a short week in the shop before traveling to one-mile Dover International Speedway for Sunday’s event.

Johnson has three wins at Dover and has collected nine top-10 finishes in 14 starts. But based on the wide array of winners in this year’s races, Johnson isn’t counting anyone out come Sunday.

“NASCAR's worked really hard to build parity within the sport,” said Johnson, when asked about the equality of several teams this year. “It's something they've worked on really since the start of the series.  And 60 years ago or whatever it is now. So that is their goal.  That's why the Car of Tomorrow was brought into play, and we are seeing that with the aero package.”

As for his new self-proclaimed aero package, Johnson says, “And the aero package, for my head, there were seven kids that thought it would be a great idea to shave my head and I am a kid at heart and decided to let them do it.

“(Chani) stood there for a few minutes with her hands over her mouth and just stared at me and I don’t think that is a good response.  But she is getting used to it and I think I am too.”

Hopefully the new package will bring him luck this weekend in Dover and take him to Victory Lane for the fourth time.

Sunday’s race will be broadcast live on FOX beginning with a pre-race show at 1:30 p.m. ET.
