Status, Power, Adventurous or Impulsive?

According to Forbes, "the kind of wheels you drive speaks volumes about your personality and and lifestyle." Hmmm...interesting. So what about our Lowe's Racing crew? What can we learn about them?

Dr. Charles Kenny, a consumer psychologist, says this about car preference: "a minivan says that you need nurturance and escape; the SUV tells people that you have that need for adventure; ultra-luxury brands show off your need for status and uniqueness; sports cars tell people about youthful exuberance, rejuvenation, and impulse control; muscle cars such as the old Camaro and Firebird tells people about impulse control; trucks show off a combination of power, control and gender identity; hybrids show off character, doing the right thing as well as having the fear of judgment; and compact cars tell people about your need for rationality and character."

Wow, there you have it! Whether or not you agree with the personality assessment, for this week's question, we asked if the crew preferred a sports car, truck, SUV, or "other" type of vehicle. Here are their answers:

  1. Truck: Kyle Bazzell (hauler driver), Chad Kohn (backup hauler driver), Pete Michel (shocks/engineer), Lance Munksgard (pit crew coach), Dave Collins (tire changer), John Boydston (engine tuner), David Elenz (race engineer), Calvin Teague (tire changer), Brandon Harder (gasman), Matt Tyrrell (tire carrier), Andrew Childers (backup jackman)

  2. Other:
    • Ron Malec (car chief): "One that runs."
    • Austin Konetski (mechanic): "The full Chevy line of vehicle is second to none!"
    • Greg Morin (pit crew coach): Cadillac
    • Earl Barban (spotter): Harley Davidson
    • T.J. Ford (jackman): Luxury car
    • David Mayo (tire changer): All of them
  3. SUV: R.J. Barnette (front tire carrier), Marius Hauser - "An SUV, but riding around in a sports car is great too!"

  4. Sports car: Chris Krieg (pit crew coach), Ryan Patton (tire carrier)

Who else is NOT surprised that trucks were at the top of the list? It's all about that Chevy power!
