Starting 3rd at Watkins Glen

Jimmie Johnson, driver of the No.48 Lowe's Chevrolet, qualified third for Sunday's Finger Lakes 355 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Watkins Glen International. Johnson turned in a lap of 69.490 seconds at 126.925 mph on the 2.45 mile road course during Saturday's qualifying session. Johnson is seeking his first career Sprint Cup Series victory at Watkins Glen International.

Juan Pablo Montoya secured the pole for the second straight weekend, and the ninth Sprint Cup pole of his career, with a time of 69.438 seconds at 127.020 mph. Montoya's effort set the track record, as he looks for his second Sprint Cup Series win at Watkins Glen International following his victory in 2010.

Kyle Busch will start second as he turned in a lap of 69.488 seconds at 126.928 mph. Rounding out the top-five are Brad Keselowski (69.654 seconds at 126.626 mph) at fourth and Marcus Ambrose (69.710 seconds at 126.524). All drivers in the top five were quicker than the previous record set by Busch in 2011.

As for the manufacturing ranking, Montoya in his Chevrolet took top spot. Toyota came next fastest with Busch's run. Dodge was the third-fastest make with Keselowski's lap and Ambrose was the top Ford in the field.

The Finger Lakes 355 starts tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. EST Sunday on ESPN with pre-race coverage starting at Noon.
