Want to know even more about Jimmie Johnson and Team 48? See what journalists from around the country are saying about Team Lowe's Racing.
The Helmet of Hope program allows fans, consumers and media members across the country to nominate their favorite charity to receive a $10,000 grant and special recognition on Johnson’s race helmet… (oh and did we mention they also get an ice cream party!?)
This year’s Helmet of Hope campaign will run for six consecutive Sprint Cup race weekends, beginning at Martinsville Speedway in April and culminating at Darlington Raceway in May. Jimmie will draw two charities each week to be included on the helmet, one from fan submissions and one from media submissions.
Nominations will be accepted through May 7, 2012, and can be submitted at www.helmetofhope.org.
Since its start in 2008, the program has contributed more than $300,000 to almost 50 different charities!
Make sure to watch for The Blue Bunny Helmet of Hope, as it will be worn by Johnson during the June NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, Calif.
