Jimmie and Chad's Offseason

Ever wonder what Jimmie and Chad do to fill their time in the off-season?

You’d think it would involve anything BUT racing. While there were several mandatory testing sessions for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series drivers, there was also one monumental race for JJ. As some of you might have witnessed, Jimmie suffered an embarrassing loss to Stephen Colbert during a segment on Comedy Central’s Colbert Report back in December. Thank goodness it was just racing rolling office chairs. Luckily, the loss didn’t discourage Jimmie from taking the much-needed time off the track in order to start the season with fresh ambition.

He found time to kick back and put his toes in the sand during a beach vacation with his family.

“[I was] much more relaxed this off-season,” said Johnson. “I really went out of my way to carve out some time to hang out with Chani and Genevieve, take some vacations and see some friends. I have all kinds of energy and I’m ready to go for 2012.”

So what about Chad? He took some time off from racing and planned a slightly more exotic trip for his off-season; South Africa.

“The last five years we’ve been pretty busy in the off-season,” said Knaus. “[Not winning the Championship] gave us an opportunity to refocus, get rested up and get ready to roll into 2012.”

Well it sounds like Jimmie and Chad have gotten their beauty sleep and managed to carve out time for fun since the end of the season – what have you been doing to stay occupied? Besides, eagerly awaiting the Daytona 500, of course!
