Animal Instincts

The Lowe’s Racing team is headed to Dover International Speedway this week for the AAA 400 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race. The 1-mile track dubbed as the “Monster Mile” is an animal in and of itself, notoriously hard on drivers and their machines with its’ concrete surface and severely banked corners.

This week, we found it fitting to ask the Lowe’s Racing crew members “if you were an animal what would you be,” before heading up to Delaware. Check out with the guys said below and let us know what animal you would be!

  • Kyle Bazzell (hauler driver), R.J. Barnette (front tire carrier) and Ryan Patton (tire carrier) – Lion
  • Peter Michel (engineer) – Dog
  • Chad Kohn (backup hauler driver) – Wolverine
  • Ron Malec (car chief) – A mouse
  • Austin Konetski (mechanic) – My dog Dax (so I could sleep all day!)
  • Lance Munksgard (pit crew coach) – Coyote
  • Chris Krieg (pit crew coach) – Lion “King of the Jungle”
  • John Boydston (engine tuner) and David Elenz (engineer) – dog
  • Marius Hauser (engineer) – Cheetah
  • Greg Morin (pit crew coach) and Dave Collins (tire changer) – Tiger
  • Calvin Teague (tire changer) – Liger
  • R.J. Barnette (front tire carrier) – Lion
  • Brandon Harder (gasman) and T.J. Ford (jack man) – Eagle
  • Earl Barban (spotter) – Panda
  • Andrew Childers (jack man) – Unicorn

Here’s to taming the beast, and Jimmie Johnson and the No. 48 Lowe’s team scoring their eighth win at the Monster Mile!
