Back in Bristol

Jimmie Johnson and the Team Lowe's Racing crew return from their West Cost swing sitting comfortably at 3rd in points, but still looking for their ever-important first win of the season. After finishing inside the top-six in each of the opening races of the season, they're hope is that their consistency will have them up front at the end of the race with an opportunity to win!

To get you ready for some short-track racing, here are some of Jimmie Johnson's stats at the 1/2 mile track:

  • In 24 starts, Johnson has one win, seven top-five finishes and 13 top-10s.
  • He has led 789 laps at the short track
  • During the last 18 races at Bristol, he has the fifth best average running position (13.163)
  • Johnson's Driver Rating at Bristol is 91.4, which is seventh among active drivers
Now, here are some thoughts from Jimmie Johnson and Chad Knaus on Bristol:

JIMMIE JOHNSON, DRIVER, NO. 48 KOBALT CHEVROLET SS (ON BRISTOL.): “We had a rough race last time at Bristol and got caught up in a wreck. Bristol is going to be interesting for sure. Everyone is still trying to dial in their cars with the new rule packages.  We’ve had a decent start to the year – as well as our teammates on the No. 88 - I’m really proud of the entire shop.  It hasn’t been easy this year – we’ve been working really hard on these cars.”

CHAD KNAUS, CREW CHIEF, NO. 48 KOBALT CHEVROLET SS (ON BRISTOL.): “Bristol isn’t one of my favorite tracks on the circuit – it’s a tough track and so many things can happen. But we are taking one of the best cars we can take there by far. Chassis No. 728 is an older Chevrolet but it’s a good car for us that’s had good runs in the past so I’m looking forward to unloading there and actually turning some laps.”
