The No. 48 Chevrolet is getting a fresh coat of paint for the 2012 season! Jimmie Johnson will hop behind the wheel of the newly redesigned No. 48 Lowe’s Chevy this weekend for the Bud Shootout at Daytona International Speedway.

The black and white version of the soon-to-be iconic striped design was run by Jimmie at Phoenix Raceway last fall and will be returning in 2012 as the secondary No. 48 Lowe’s Kobalt Tools Chevy. Many of Team Lowe’s Racing’s Facebook fans have already weighed in on this new look through the “Last Scheme Standing,” where they voted it their 2^nd favorite Jimmie Johnson paint scheme of all time! It seems that this redesign is destined to be a classic!

This is the first overhaul of the primary paint scheme in Lowe’s more than decade-long relationship with Jimmie Johnson. Fans can look forward to more versions of the now permanent two-color paint scheme in the upcoming races for the No. 48 Lowe’s/Kobalt Tools Chevrolet. These are a tribute to the American muscle car and will feature some of Chevy’s classic color combos.
