How long have you been a fan?
I attended my first race at a NASCAR sanctioned track in Byron, GA in 1967. A lot of drivers would come to the races there when they were in Atlanta. Some drivers that would run were Richard Petty, Bobby Allison, and David Pearson. It was great racing!
How did your interest in racing start?
My dad raced in the '50s and Richard Petty's front tire changer was from my dad's hometown of Pineview, GA.
Who was your favorite first driver?
I never had just one favorite for a long time. Some of my favorites were Richard Petty, David "the Silver Fox" Pearson, Bobby and Davey Allison, Darrell Waltrip, and Cale Yarborough.
Who is your favorite current driver?
Jimmy Johnson in the Lowe's No. 48!
If you had three hours to spend with your favorite driver, what would you do?
Talk about women, cars and wash it all down with a cold beer.
What is your most memorable moment in racing?
When Dale Earnhardt died. Everybody in racing lost something that day, no matter who you were. It was a sad day for everyone.
How many races do you attend each year?
Maybe one if I am lucky but I do support my local NASCAR track, Motordome Racetrack in Smithton, PA, every Friday night.
What is your favorite track?
Atlanta Motor Speedway
If you worked in racing, what would you do?
I would love to be able to build motors and have the know-how to keep it all together. That would be awesome!
If you were in charge of NASCAR, what would you change?
Nothing. NASCAR does a wonderful job. The France family has done a great job for the sport. We, as fans, owe them a great deal of gratitude for a job well done!
