How long have you been a fan?

For more than 40 years.

How did your interest in racing start?

My father liked racing so I went to short tracks such as Greenville-Pickens, Asheville, Wilksboro as a child. We also went to Bristol, Charlotte and the Rock.

Who was your favorite first driver?

Darrell Waltrip was my first favorite driver. I think the races between him and Cale Yarborough are classics.

Who is your favorite current driver?

Jimmie Johnson because he seems to have really settled into his place in racing now. He races hard and is a winner.

If you had three hours to spend with your favorite driver, what would you do?

I would take him to see my friend's 10 year old son who is sick and a big NASCAR fan. I think he would be on cloud nine if he met him. I would then ask him to give me a ride in the Lowe's car.

What is your most memorable moment in racing?

I would have to say the day Dale Earnhardt died. Its one of those moments where you can ask anybody where they were when they heard and they could easily tell you. It was a very sad day for NASCAR and the fans alike.

How many races do you attend each year?

One or two--usually at Charlotte

What is your favorite track?

Lowe's Motor Speedway. There is no where else that you can feel the excitement when there is so much going on. I've been to almost every track and nowhere else is there the "feel" you get at Charlotte. I don't even feel that at Bristol and I love that track.

If you worked in racing, what would you do?

I would be a pit reporter for NASCAR. Pit Road is where the action is. You can see and hear what wins and what loses a race there.

If you were in charge of NASCAR, what would you change?

Although I understand NASCAR is a business, I feel that the prices have gotten too high for the average person to afford. I would bring the price down to a more affordable level.
